The plan is to officially launch Steam & Source Engine & Games for Mac in the next week, not 1-2 months.

You do realise we already have that, right? It kinda comes as a prerequisite to supporting OS X, which will presumably be officially out within the next 2 months or so (currently in closed beta).

You mean you haven't yet heard about Steam and Source for Mac and how it's coming in 1 or 2 months time? Care to guess which 3D graphics API OS-X uses?

Good things come to those who wait

In the well known presentation series "Why desktop Linux sucks" and more recently "Why desktop Linux still sucks", the presenter talked about small steps to make gaming on Linux a reality, so in the far future we migth get an AAA-title. What is happening now is that those steps are being skipped for major business right away.

It's something we have been talking about for weeks now along with those in the Phoronix community via our forums and IRC. If you're not up-to-date on our coverage, read Investigating The Steam Linux Client Continues and Here's The First Screenshot Of The Linux Steam Client. However, if you are up to speed, here is the newest screenshot exhibiting the latest progress to the Steam Linux client...
