    many years ago i would even agree with you but the android ecosystem really improved.

    i give you example what i mean 4-5 years ago you could buy chinese android phone who after you did buy it more or less never did get any updates of the operation system something like this is no longer the case

    my samsung A25 did gives you 5 years of update guarantee with 2 big android version jumps(what means 2 years) and the last 3years security fixed. (yes i know apple does better than this)

    the most cheap phones now come with 3years of updates(100€ phones)

    also keep in mind after this time you still can go the LineageOS route,.

    also keep in mind that 5 years is already over the EOL lifetime of such a phone for most people and for me to because of the battery and other components start to show bad performance.
