Steam On Linux Ends 2024 With A Nice Boost To Its Marketshare, AMD Linux CPU Use At 74%
really? why?
Like, I can understand it from a "everyone hates computers, they are not our friends" perspective.
But what specifically apple do these not happy apple customers you know actually have to be unhappy about?
I am aware of lots of things people believe about apple - they are expensive- its a walled garden - you cant upgrade or service them - which even if it was true before is not true now, and that is very different to what you just said, because apple customers already know that is all lies.
and this fact helps me in what way exactly ? it also does not help you you just try a blind shot in the hope you hit some target (any kind of target no matter what)
i know one thing for sure no one on planed earth need apple...
i give you an example to show that no one need apple (and people are stupid to buy apple)
today did come a ASRock Industrial Mini PC Series model: 4x4 BOX-8840u7EU/AI
Back: Three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI port, Gigabit Ethernet port
$1,399.00"
you can spin the apple ball as you like in the end you do not get 96GB ram you only get 24gb ram
you do not get 2 TB SSD you only get 0,5GB ram
you can claim the 12-Core CPU is faster than the 8core cpu but in our case we want to build a Freifunk VPN this does not matter at all (believe it or not) also we run Proxmox Virtual Environment and here it looks like apple is real shit you need 1 core or 1 threat to run the host OS this means only 11 virtual guests for the apple m4 product and on the amd product you run the host os in 1 threat and then you run 15 virtual guests so a clear win for the AMD SOC (and again performance does not matter for what we do)
you can argue that the 16-Core GPU of apple m4 is faster than the 12 gpu cores on AMD side " AMD Radeon 780M (iGPU), 12CU/768SP," but then again we do run ZERO GPU tasks... so again what apple offers does not matter at all.
also because macos lag vulkan support people can not play much games on valve steam with apple hardware if they do not install linux and accept that the linux support of apple m4 is a pain in the ass....
if you only want a little more ram you buy the mac studio and the model with 64gb ram already cost you
4000€ and these mac studios all only have apple M2 soc and is only produced in TSMC 5nm...
its very simple you are free to do so you can spend 4000€ on only 64gb ram and i spend 1138€ and have 96GB ram.
for me it also boils down to linux support AMD on X86_64 has top notch linux support and the apple products if we exclude older modells like m1 and M2 and m3 do not have that good linux support if we only speak about apple m4... because apple do no longer sell older modells it boils down to you have to buy it and wait years to get decent linux support. what is idiotic.

Actually a week ago I tried running GPU tasks on older AMD APU and it was shit. More complex computations were crashing because of drivers.

Actually I tried playing Steam games on that APU in Linux and it was slower than on Windows. Since it's an older APU, it was below the usable level, so I had to return to Windows gaming.
