If Valve polls two machines from the same user, and one is AMD and the other is Intel, what are they supposed to do? Maybe they just count both.

Chinese language down (-3.53%) is Linux up.

Why do the Chinese like Windows so much? I don't know, but it's probably because they want to have a reliable system and focus on their work, not on fixing the OS and fighting its faults .

And where in the world is Linux more popular? In India (13% according to stat counter, China - 1.17%). Well, not surprisingly, India is so behind compared to China.

And in Europe where is it most popular??? In Greece (5.56%). And again a country that is trailing in the tail of Europe and even the former Eastern Bloc countries have already overtaken it.

But that's how it is when instead of working, people are mainly concerned with their own operating system .

The fans are asking. Ok, as you wish.

          Linux - 2.29%
          AMD AMD Custom GPU 0405 - 31.68%
AMD Radeon Graphics (RADV VANGOGH) - 17.67%

          So:
          2.29 * (1 - (0.317 + 0.177)) = 1.15%

Without deck handheld, Linux laptops, desktops are 1.15%.

My problem with modern operating systems are all the crap that are running in the background.
They all have it, but linux distro's are still a little better than macos and windows.
Windows are by far the worst in this regard.

There really are no OS that I want to use anymore. Kubuntu 16.04 was the last OS I used where everything "felt right".
MacOS is just very good at PR, it creates an illusion that it is somehow better, but when you start examining what is going on under the hood, it is just the same or maybe even worse than the other operating systems.

I have a strong opinion about good software, but maybe I stand alone. I wish I had the time/resources to make more software the way I like it.
There is a certain satisfaction (for a lack of a better word) that you get from using good software. I rarely experience it these days.

The dedication you put into this crap is very impressive.

I think more percent of Linux users use Linux also to work, but more percent of Windows users use computers only to gaming. And this show, why AMD + Intel market share are above 100%. I think Linux users in more cases use hybrid laptops (iGPU + dGPU).

The explanation is much easier. Steam users are gamers and they use whatever serves their gaming needs best. That is in order of popularity Windows, Steamdeck+OS and some Linux distros. Of course Stemdeck users don't work on their device but Win users? I don't know that many hardcore gamers anymore but even those few kids I know do their homework and tinkering on the same Win machine they play their games on. In fact those that don't game on consoles do that most likely because they have other things they want to do which rules out the cheaper option of consoles.
There is no way one could apply those surveys to general OS usage, browser agent statistics are not good either but better than steam for that. Depending on how you view android/smartphone OSs, Linux is either market leader or under the 3% mark.

That's not very difficult to deal with. They would count both as half a machine, or if they want better data they would measure the usage ratios.
