Phoronix: FEX 2408 Emulator For x86_64 Binaries On AArch64 Teases More Performance

FEX 2408 has been released as the newest update to this open-source emulator that allows for running x86/x86_64 games and application binaries on AArch64 (64-bit ARM) systems. There are some nice improvements to find with FEX 2408 while already the next release is being teased for even greater performance...

How does FEX compare to similar solutions made by Apple or Microsoft? Performance and compatibility-wise?

Comparing performances I decided to compare the performances of the OpenSource Linux Userspace Emulator that allows you to run x86/x86_64 apps on ARM linux. There are QEMU-user, FEX-emu and Box86/Box64. How to bench Linux userspace emulator Test will consist of the bench I already used a couple of time, and that can be run as...

Maybe Michael would be interested in running the benchmarks comparing Box64, FEX, QUEMU and the native versions? IIRC he currently owns a fast and modern ARM laptop.

            That would be tremendous.

I would be deeply interested in this. I have a Pinebook Pro that can comfortably run Minecraft Java, but it'd be great to see if it could be made to run older x86/x86-64 games and which games would run decently/well

It is unfortunate they seem focused on legacy ARM ISA.

                Box64 supports RISC-V proper.

Be nice to be able to run Chrome (not chromium) from a raspberry pi one day.
