Steam on Linux has a frame limitor? Nice.

Just after GRR Martin releases the 6th book.

More than just that. Part of the good stuff in Steam Deck, and also why we don't yet have SteamOS 3.0 For Everyone are all the hardware-linked-with-software things that aren't (yet) supported on standard desktops/laptops, like configuring/limiting CPU and GPU TDPs, the configurable refresh rate limits, all the things gamescope enables like HDR support, system-level FSR/XeSS/other resizing/resampling techs.

I hate it too, I want SteamOS for Desktop, but I get why it's still "Coming Soon", and I feel that they exposed enough of the Good Stuff in Steam Big Picture to enable folks to link up Steam+Gamescope and get most of the good parts working.

I basically never use the frame limiter which is only useful if you play long time on battery. In many games just enable vsync and you are done. Going below 60 fps is rarely needed. Games like MK1 which do not run at this speed can be configured in game settings to use a 40 fps limit. But what I really like about the SteamDeck is that I provides a much better UI than Windows.

But I don‘t believe that a Windows user will be fully happy with it as many games need some adjustments especially if you want to use some mods. I use Proton GE with custom protonfixes in that case but I still did not manage to use the console with Witcher 3. Many games work, some require older Proton versions like DOA5, but without Linux knowledge it could be hard sometimes.
