However, X11 plus wayland has at least double the security risks of X11 alone,

so you should uninstall wayland for better security especially since wayland is dead with the miniscule number of developers for it giving up when they finally accepted wayland is badly written malicious garbage lacking even the most basic features you need for a desktop environment.

Proton users especially should really follow that advice, since games on proton lose all their hardware acceleration on 90% of games machines active in the wild if they try and use a wayland based xdg session.

Of course, you could get a similar security improvement by unistalling xorg-server and xwayland.

Try that and see what still works on your desktop, proton stuff wont lol.
lol wayland securty aint better x11's been round forever devs know it inside out wayland’s just hyped up nonsense proton games on x11 go brrrr wayland’s a mess for gaming

All wayland does in that case is add to the attack surface.

Which is why its important to remind everyone wayland is still malicious garbage that you should uninstall everytime wayland is mentioned, otherwise several HBGary personas slip into fantasy land pretending it actually works.

wayland gets promoted by them ubiquitously for obvious reasons.
After you take your daily pill, try to read the following. Everybody hacks eveybody nowadays, Linux is the best platform. Wayland is the most secure.

Like I said, it may be Gnome implementation problem or it may be HBGary education problem as well.

Ex-xorg devs are Wayland developers and they clearly said X is dead. There's nothing good that can be said about X. When comes to Wayland it doesn't slow fullscreen games down like X. Try again.
lol wayland aint good for old hw x11 was king devs jumpin on wayland bandwagon dont get it x is what we grew on full screen games whatever man x did that just fine before wayland even a twinkle in devs eye

winex11.drv: HACK: Don't clip child windows for C&C Tiberian Sun.
    being the latest commit

Wayland for desktop is both malicious and dead. Uninstall it.

as you implicitly admit in the very next sentence, xwayland is not wayland. xwayland is a low performance fork of xorg-server by people with malicious intent.
further, Xwayland doesnt and will never work on over 90% of modern gaming rigs, wayland is malicious and dead, Uninstall it.

aka proton doesn't work on wayland now and it never will do. wayland is malicious and dead, Uninstall it.
