1) Most open source games (what I play most) lack polish. Two example: the fonts are often hideous and the UI is jumbled
2) Balance seems to come secondary many Linux games. A team that gains an upper hand often has an easier time progressing. It isn't bad to reward good work, but I've seen this result in drawn-out endings in which everyone knows what side is going to win. In never-ending games this tends to result in many options (such as characters or weapsons) never being used due to an obvious inferiority.
