not if the display consumes a lot more power than the GPU, which is likely for old games with vsync.

It depends at which framerate you sync at. On the Steam Deck at 60 fps maybe, but if your handheld is capable of high refresh rate and you sync at 120 that's another story. For sure it opens to more use cases.

I would have loved to, but unfortunately I don't own a Steam Deck.

Anyone know if this supports DX8 vertex blending? Lack of that broke No One Lives Forever 2 on Linux for me:

In my test some time ago before 1.0 version with d8vk vertex stay ok compared wined3d

and run some interesting demos with d8vk 1.0:

              d8tod9 + dxvk
              D8vk

I had great experiences with gallium nine back in the day... Wonder how that project is going
According to d8vk github, d8vk has better performance and compatibility other wrappers, and it wins most performance comparisons (but gallium nine wasn't tested)

                There you go.

                WineD3D:

                D8VK:
                https://img.tpx.cz/uploads/d8vk.jpg

                ~13W on WineD3D (2 hours, 40 minutes)
                ~8W on D8VK (4 hours, 12 minutes)
                Both locked at 60fps.
D8VK feels much stable and smoother than WineD3D.
Also some games for sure can consume much less with D8VK.

Thanks! Looks like I'll be doing some compiling this weekend.
