Phoronix: Microsoft's Dzn Mesa Driver Already Hits Vulkan 1.2

Microsoft engineers seem to be working on getting the Dozen "dzn" Mesa driver up to speed as quickly as possible. It was just earlier this month it began passing nearly all Vulkan 1.0 conformance tests, Vulkan 1.1 was then exposed just a few days ago, and now Dzn is ironing out Vulkan 1.2...

Now you can use mpv vulkan in wsl, choose llvmpipe as GPU to get 60fps output, choose Dozen as GPU to get up to 4fps output

I don't quite understand why they do this, when there is also Vulkan support on Windows 10/11?

Seems like MS puts in better work for Linux than they do their own OS.

Not all GPUs have it, e.g. those in Windows on ARM laptops.

              And those support DX12?
At least for x86, I doubt that many non-Vulkan GPUs are still out there running Windows 10/11. Vulkan GPUs have been around for about 10 years now.
Of course not all support all Vulkan features, but the same will be true for DX12.

It's currently GPUs in the Qualcomm SoCs, which support only DX12 and OpenGL ES. Don't forget ARM is the new thing and Microsoft even offers new developer Mac Mini style PC.

This is apparently Microsoft's own problem. Adreno GPU provides Vulkan API on Android

Microsoft hates everything about Vulkan and nothing more
