That would be good, but why does that relate to COW? Are reflinks only possible with COW filesystems?

edit: Ok after a quick searx, reflink does indeed depend on COW and so it makes sense.

Keep in mind with the Moo CoWs and external game drives that you may need to have Steam move Proton to your external drive to take advantage of reflinks. I've noticed on some installs that Steam will add Proton to the default Steam directory and not the external drive even though the external is set as the default install location.

Yes, it means they only make a copy if they change anything. So copy-on-write means shared as long as they are only read.

Not quite. It is possible to have reflinks on non cow filesystems. For example, XFS supports it. A COW filesystem gets this by default and therefore people often refer to these features together but they are not strictly tied.
