    It's like quicksand.
What companies are open source friendly without benefit?
The Linux kernel itself is a commercial bottomless gold mine.

Any news agency? Then you got three choices:

      1. You travel to every country to interview politicians, citizens as well as do your own journalistic digging
      2. You only read your Twitter feed, reddit comments, 4chan and other "reliable" sources that are not a news agency
      3. You barely know anything about the state of the world

Not at all. Companies like that join open source staff for same reason they joined AV1 effort - those companies pay so much money for H264/H265/Unreal Engine/Unity, that if they can move something that can compete with them without paying so much, they can still save money.

            Tencent is huge gaming company.

Microsoft is pretty deep in games.

Niantic is also getting big at games.

Only Adobe/Huawei i don't quite understand why they would support it.

purism is still a very successful company making good money, they are hardly selling their products at cost. ofc that doesn't make them any less a great company. but they certainly get benefits from it.

Yep, but at least they don't try hard to tie people to their different ecosystem unlike Microsoft (Windows).

O3DE already supported DX without Microsoft's involvement (https://github.com/o3de/o3de/tree/de.../Atom/RHI/DX12). Also, if you're a serious game developer then you will care more about Windows and DX since that's where they majority of PC gamers are.

You're clueless which probably also confirms your point.
