        scanning of the player’s system
        WTF is this ?
Why not scanning only game's files ?
Are they also uploading files from our system ?
This seems like garbage that I need to block as my privacy has higher priority than a stupid game.

It's been a surge of great news recently.

          I'm very hyped now.

          Too bad it's opt-in though :<
If we have the right to choose whatever platform we want to use they also should have the right to choose the platforms they want to support.

Of course I'm going to criticize the developers if they choose to not support Linux for some reason, but it's their right to do so.

Solution is simple: don't play any games with anti-cheat.

In case of opensource or free software drivers, it's much easier to implement cheats like wallhack, e.g. to make all walls (semi)-transparent.

I totally agree, but why not run the game on a separate sandboxed Wine prefix in a way that Wine is not able to access files outside the prefix?

they are scanning for cheats, which run on system, not in game files

steam runs games in container, i.e. it's not the whole system

That would perfectly work, but it would require at least 95% of people (including Windows players) to abide in order for client-side anti-cheat to be abolished.
