Ogre 13 Open-Source Game Engine Released

Is it a joke?? There are so many many many many game engines. And not even half of them is listed in this already big list like the project dependent ones..

I should have been more correct. There are not that many license able game engines. That list on wikipedia are almost 100 percent of all game engines you can license either as open source or pay money to use. The project dependant ones you cannot license it does not really matter if they have a duplicate name as another one. Now for engines you could end up having to compare for what one you are going to license instead of writing your own duplicate naming does cause problems from time to time.

OGRE is more of a rendering engine with extras rather than a full-fledged game engine. They even market themselves as so.

Too bad there are no free open source software games using this engine.

There are many, but there's one that immediately comes to my mind -- OpenMW (Morrowind). Well, OpenMW itself is free but you'll still have to pay for the original MW assets it uses. The main project itself switched to OpenSceneGraph few years ago but there's a old fork by cc9cii that (still uses OGRE and) has set its goal to become the open source engine for all Bethesda games since Morrowind (inc. Fallout and newer TES games). He hasn't push there for more than a year now but he's still working on it.

There was attempt to vulkan backend.

And there still is. They can't seem to make up their minds whether they want to slowly push OGRE as a one project (thus 1.x) or old but main branch and OGRE-next (2.x) separately.

Seems like a pretty cool engine despite that it doesn't seem to have support for DirectX 12 or Vulkan.

Yep, the name OGRE sounds so much like O3DE...

OGRE starts development in 2005. O3DE is is from 2021. So O3DE sounds like OGRE not the other way over.
