Wine/Proton has gotten better which is good and there has been a few people jumping to Linux, but this underwhelming up tick is all that will result. I'm sure Valve is swooning right now thinking its wonderful.

So next 1% will take 20 years - LOL .
Usually user counts behave logarithmic. The more people use it the more people want to use it.
But that is not with every product the case and it has to show if it will be right in our case.

And on NetMarketShare and Statcounter it goes the other way around.

    Steam:
    July: 0.86%
    August: 0.89%
    Sepetember 0.94%

NetMarketShare "Operating System Market Share"for Desktop computer:
    July: 3.57%
    August: 2.69%
    September: 1.47%

Statcounter "Desktop Operating System Market Share Worldwide":
    July: 1.85%
    August: 1.84%
    September: 1.73%

Wow, that's quite big bump, hopefully the trends stays that way.

With Apple going to ARM and hopefully some current macOS users switching to Linux instead of Windows, I think we could actually break the 2% barrier again in two or three years.
