A new game released for MS-only platform. Who said, that DirectX is not the way to go?

Anyway, MS loves open source. A new playground for Embrace, Extend and Extinguish strategy. A new challenge for monopoly.

Console port. Released a year ago on PS4
There aren't a whole lot of PC-only AAA games. It's mostly indie games that are limited to Windows/PC.

Shish, or this is the GTA syndrome, the feeling up graphical upgrades per re-release on the platforms. First DX12, then Vulkan with promotion to how much smoother it is (only because it's released later and it's the latest development).
This company has access to the internet and Vulkan has been out for years now. They have to know the differences between DX12 and Vulkan. Besides, this is also a benefit for Wine to test out the D3D12-to-Vulkan translation and develop for a greater wine.

Does Proton 5.0-10 RC use upstream vk3d, or the recent Valve fork? Performance comparisons of both would be nice to have...

they are forced to develop for dx12 because it's what's used on the xbox. The ps5 uses her own secret api salsa, so no one bothers with vulkan considering that yes it runs on windows and linux but not even on mac.

This game has DLSS 2.0 so I do wonder if that can be enabled for nvidia users that have the NGX driver? probably not. But maybe soon.

PS4 and Switch apparently can run Vulkan API just fine. Yes Sony also have their own API but its likely similar to vulkan and doesn't offer too many extra benefits.

Apparently Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be DX12 only on Windows after they added support for the API on Windows 7. That's going to be quite a bit more work to get working properly under Linux when it releases in November (assuming it's not delayed again).
