Phoronix: Valve Posts The Code To Their Moondust VR Demo

As expected when discovering a Valve "Moondust" repository on GitHub, today they indeed posted the code to this latest VR tech demo...

Phoronix, Linux Hardware Reviews, Linux hardware benchmarks, Linux server benchmarks, Linux benchmarking, Desktop Linux, Linux performance, Open Source graphics, Linux How To, Ubuntu benchmarks, Ubuntu hardware, Phoronix Test Suite

    On a side note:

Moondust takes place in the Portal universe. With moon-based conversion gel stores running dangerously low, Aperture looks to the stars for a new source of the valuable portal conductor. Take control of a giant robot on the moon, spearheading the Aperture Lunar Resources Initiative.
    Portal 3 confirmed?

Valve is developing 3 full length VR games (https://www.roadtovr.com/htc-valve-s...vr-full-games/). Who knows what they will make.

A little bit disappointing that the Steam release of the Moondust demo only supports windows. The unity project builds without issues on Linux. Now to have a Knuckles controller to test it...

We still need the 3D TV version, the Drirectx 10.1 version, and the Kinect version. Valve is jumping from hype train to hype train too quickly. Well, sometimes. RGB hype train is almost over and they still don't have anything RGB tho. At least Steam by default is in a dark theme, the best and newest thing. I bet HL3's going to be in all dark theme too.

Afaik Portal was in the same Half-life universe. Aka "everything is fucked sideways by aliens" universe.

Good to see they are recovering.

It is a technical demo, which focus on VR gameplay, i.e: the way to interact with the game weights more than graphics realism
