Phoronix: Valve Prepares Open-Source Moondust Repository

Back in June, Valve announced "Moondust" as a new VR technical demo to showcase their hardware efforts (primarily with the Knuckles EV2 VR controllers) and consists of some mini games. It looks like this tech demo might be soon open-sourced...

Cool, they probably figure open sourcing it will help out new devs to virtual reality.

Isn't Moondust written in Unity? They can't exactly open source that...

How about getting some more HW OEMs on the platform, so HTC can't milk ppl anymore. The pricing of the Pro headset is just ridiculous

Dependencies doesn't necessarily have to be open source for a project to be open source (unless we are talking about the GPL specifically).

Also, the Unity source is available online but you are not allowed to modify it, so technically you could actually ship it on GitHub aswell.

I'm sure Windows "Mixed Reality" Headsets are compatible with SteamVR.

OMTDesign They do support the platform, but they're not full SteamVR hw like the Vive. They don't have the Tracking solution or the Controllers( Both of those are Valve tech afaik)
