      Unity sure has come a long way. I remember when Steam was still in beta on Linux and the first Unity indie game ports were really bad, with problems in performance, input and etc. I hated Unity for that. It must not be perfect now (no engine is) but they really improved Unity, Linux ports tend to be of better quality today, and we have better GPU drivers, better input drivers, better sound (although some still hate PA...), etc.

      The whole experience improved a lot. Today you can install a 2018 distro and game away practically just installing Steam or standalone games. There is some corner cases where you need to mess around a bit, but that is the case even on Windows.
