Yeah XFS is definitely an awesome FS, known for being rock solid and slowly gaining some modern features. In terms of functionality and design however, BTRFS is light-years ahead of it, and was designed to support these features from the start.

I just wish fsck.xfs would finally do something. I mean map it to xfs_repair with compatibility for command line options. Right now it's hard to boot with a broken xfs filesystem, near impossible for newbies (drop to shell & run xfs_repair manually).

Last time I checked, XFS didn't support multiple devices or any kind of RAID.

Btrfs' RAID1 is a killer feature for me.

Personally, i root for bcachefs.
XFS is not a COW fs, and that has consequences, feature wise.
BTRFS has all the features, but if you want stability/maturity, you have to stick with the basic stuff.

Bcachefs has the potential to join the best of both filesystems. Let's hope i'm not mistaken and that it gets ready soon.

Bcachefs does look promising. Maybe in a few years from now...

It's always good to have competition and alternatives, but I fear about the viability of Bcachefs' development.
