XFS is not CoW, it does not checksum data nor does it support multiple volumes/devices in any way. It is not even comparable to a filesystem like Btrfs.

Service announcement: only filesystems that can be compared with btrfs are those that have a significant part of its feature set, implemented or in development.
Which means ZFS, Bcachefs and ReFS (and if you stretch this a bit, also AFS).

I agree that fixing the root fs can be tricky. If you'd like to send a patch for fsck.xfs to make it do what you wish for, please do!

because they know what they are doing, unlike yiu

xfs can't change filesystem size. just as zfs btw

XFS is not a COW fs, and that has consequences, feature wise.
BTRFS has all the features, but if you want stability/maturity, you have to stick with the basic stuff.
if you want stability/maturity and have some brain, you stay away from bcachefs

That's why i said it has potential. Meaning, it's not there yet...

You can't shrink the filesystem, but you can increase fs size with XFS.
How to reduce the size a partition formatted with XFS Filesystem? How can I reduce the size a LVM partition formatted with XFS Filesystem?
