What they focused on tuning were workloads common to Android, e.g. SQLite apps, but obviously will benefit traditional Linux systems with those same workloads too.

Sometimes improvements like these can get backported, but I doubt it. It'll be a long time before theres an android phone running 4.14.

What happened to Samsung's plan to release F2FS driver for Windows and push it as a replacement of proprietary exFAT junk? Without making F2FS ubiquitous, it's way less useful.

I know! I've been waiting for the death of FAT for so long F2FS is a FAT killer for solid state storage (flash drives, SSDs, SD Cards, etc)

It will land once the SoC manufacturers ship this linux version in their own SDK, so it will mean probably within a year, on new devices only.
