Good news, I've always found it odd for Android to run EXT4 on flash storage. It's a miracle that it works.

Real shame that Google, Samsung and all those Networking companies, who all rely on UBIFS, don't help out on this.

Most modern Android devices use MMC flash chips, not raw NAND flash.
A MMC chip has a controller generating a FTL (flash translation layer) so it is a block layer device just like USB drives, sd cards or SSDs, and it will run fine with any normal block layer device filesystem.

Some shittier Android devices (or many older ones) use(d) raw NAND flash chips and therefore use(d) yaffs (man, yaffs was very common) or ubifs on it http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2016171
