ONE IS TIRED OF THE IDIOTS EXCUSES FOR NOT ADDING REISER4 TO THE KERNEL.

I wonder when the kernel developers are going to try to strong arm motherboard manufacturers into using a openbios implementation now or cut support for devices that require proprietary firmware (ie soundcards, nics, tvcards, etc etc).

i dont see why the some interfaces shouldnt be gplonly.. after all, if some driver wishes the more advanced, internal api, well, then they are a derived work, and that makes them gpl. If they wanna be non-gpl, they can stay with standard interface.

I dislike 2.6.25 for the gpl-only interface for usb. Of course hw vendors could open the drivers but I highly doubt that. For wlan you can at least use ndiswrapper (Linus does not even like that much it seem - but I do). Some others will most likely never been supported again - because of outdated hardware which nobody wants to additional money for Linux support. So buy new hardware in that case...

Phoronix: Linux 2.6.25-rc9 Kernel Released
Most thought the Linux 2.6.25-rc8 kernel would be the last testing release before this new Linux kernel goes gold, but in fact -rc9 was released this afternoon. The Linux 2.6.25-rc9 kernel is quite a small update and consists mostly of Motorola m68k updates, network driver updates, and XFS file-system patches...
