For the record: Raiser showed the place he buried his wife in exchange for lowered sentence.

The guy married the wrong person who might have planned to abuse his social naiveness or just tried to secure her own future, he couldn't deal with it the proper way and ended up using the worst of possible methods.
Classical saga, I wouldn't be surprised if there will be a movie about it.

When confronted by reporters outside the courthouse, Reiser sprints away. He runs to a nearby county building, where he visits his children and gives his son a telescope for his birthday. Oakland PD follow him and later that night, detain him for a DNA sample. He is checked for cuts, scratches or bruises. None are found.

We are to believe, that the traces of Nina's blood on the pillar, are "evidence" that Nina has been stabbed, or slashed, to death. Therefore, the traces of Hans' blood on the pillar, must be "evidence" that Hans has also been stabbed, or slashed, to death. However, no cuts, scratches, or even bruises, were found on Hans Reiser.[4,5,6] Clearly, something is wrong here.

I don't know exactly what weirdness has gone down here,... but I know the case was a TOTAL joke.

Answer: Since the "justice" system wanted to obfuscate the facts.
