    If you set Plymouth to a fixed resolution it just runs fine without KMS, instead of text mode. This way it works on nVidia's proprietary driver and even on SiS hardware (and other Linux-incompatible GPU's).

      From what I've seen, Plymouth has to be deactivated to get Ubuntu running on Poulsbo hardware, although that could have been fixed already.
