Lightspark certainly seems promising. I do not intend to use it yet, but i am waiting for the 0.5 milestone, and then i will probably switch.
It is not like it could have more problems than Adobe's implementation anyway...
Plus i am using Chromium 6 and youtube's html5 beta and is working great!

With gstreamer, or any other plugin framework, distros could actually provide only the free codecs by default, leaving the patented stuff to third party repos.
