Well, a simple fix would be to add conditional X Input 2 support into Wine which won't be used unless people have new enough X.org, wait until most people migrate to X.org with X Input 2 support, make Wine require the version of X.org, and then close the bug.

This bug can only be resolved if Wine uses XI2. But work on this does not get accepted because then this bug wouldn't be fixed if Wine were to run on older X.org versions (*sigh*). However other fixes are not welcomed because according to the people in charge Wine shall only use a clean XI2 implementation instead of ugly hacks. >.<
In other words: Wine does not support X12, it is not going to support XI2 and this bug shall only be fixed with XI2, but XI2 shall not be supported, etc.

So this bug will NEVER BE FIXED

But guys, c'mon, do something about the input. A gazilion games are unplayable just due to some bad mouse input stuff. Also the entire world uses Ventrilo for voice communication and the push-to-talk button doesn't work when out of focus. You'd think Wine would at least have their priorities straight.

But no... they do not work on it because X.org needs a new input, but when it's there they are not going to work on it because the new implementation doesn't work on older X.org releases >.<

    That reaction does suck, agreed.

Why use vent under wine, when you can use http://www.mangler.org/

It used to be a bit iffy, but since v1.2 its worked perfectly for me!
