MPlayer 1.0 RC3 Finally Arrives

This is MPlayer, they haven't had a proper release ever.

That's the ONLY way to do it.

If you don't like, it there are other players you can use, built on the same libraries.

VLC is one

Yeah, VLC is a very good player which can do many of the things MPlayer can.

MPlayer shines with weirdo codec and container combinations, experimental code, broken files, and encoding. I also like the bare-bones, no-nonsense interface, but there are many good players out there.

you should not forget mencoder, for me it works better than pure ffmpeg (at least for full hd -> ntsc dvd).

Xine have worked better than anything else for me though.

SVN and the like are just revision control systems this doesn't say anything about how stable the code is, some people seem to forget that.

So is the 1.0 version numbering and the -RC and other tags.
