Phoronix: GNU Linux-libre 6.13-gnu Deals With More Questionable Code In The Kernel

Building off yesterday's release of the Linux 6.13 kernel, GNU Linux-libre 6.13 is out today as this downstream kernel from FSF LA that strips out code pertaining to the ability to load non-free drivers/microcode and other elements not deemed within the standards of the Free Software Foundation, even when it means removing/disabling hardware support and features...

There should be an e-Trump to ban Cyber neuters in the Linux world.

I'm rather interested in that picture in the background where Tux seems to have visited the Q Continuum as shown in Star Trek Voyager.

To each their own. Enjoy your non-functioning or old hardware. I'll take the blobs, tyvm.

You can tell from the artwork they choose to represent this project how childish and immature the whole undertaking is.

The sad part is that Stallman is 71 years old and the rest are probably close to that yet they can't seem to grow up.

“To be able to choose between proprietary blobs is to be able to choose your master. Freedom means not having a master. And in the area of computing, freedom means not using blobs.”
              -- The stallmanian anti-blobers... probably.

I'll stick with working, performant HW with "proprietary" blobs. I see no reason to cripple my user experience for ideological bullshit.

not shipping the blobs would be one thing. but denying users the ability to load them at all? that's some authoritarian shit.

It's actually even worse because see, according to the Stallmanites: "Hardware Blobs good, Software Blobs bad." It's perfectly fine in their definition of "freedom" to have blobs as long as they're burned into the hardware itself rather than them being able to be dynamically loaded. Which has resulted in the absurd such as them claiming that Nvidia cards were more free than AMD ones back in the day.

I know (s)he's supposed to be more of a jolly penguin, but I find it terrifying. Imagine coming around a corner and having that thing staring at you.
