Read the announcement for Reiser5 if you want to find out what ideas and design choices it bring forward.

Yep. That's why Ford is going to change their name, because of Henry Fords legacy (funding the Nazi party in Germany). Otherwise, Ford will make no progress anymore. And Google Cloud will also be killed off, because the 2020 project manager killed his wife on a trip to Hawaii (yes, look it up!).

One day it may randomly be updated and maintained by an enthusiast for a challenge and "giggles" linked to the name. The pretty grim history behind this might end up being the sole reason why reiserfs might one day outmaintain i.e extfs.
Exactly. We also have streets named after actual historical murderers. And don't forget Napoleon: the war he fought was also one with lots of victims, yet in France, he's honored by the majority of people every year. So it's not like most people actually care all that much.

You know it's not an unique name right?

Are you discriminating against anyone sharing that last name?

As the other guy said, grow the fuck up.

If we rename it NinaFS, would we have more users?

The Reiser4 SourceForge project where the Reiser4 and Reiser5 out-of-tree patches would be released haven't been touched now in two and a half years.
You know what else hasn't been touched in two and a half years?

                .....

I believe it’s a brilliant suggestion. The filesystem itself is innocent and contains some genuinely innovative ideas. By renaming it, we can move away from its association with Hans Reiser and instead use the name to commemorate his wife. This not only honors her memory but also gives the filesystem a chance to stand on its own merits.

Really a poor, poor choice of words.

                      What the heck.
