I think this is very nice.

I really like both GNOME Terminal and Ptyxis. I hope they get this feature soon. I also like Tilix but unfortunately it is almost unmaintained and is still using GTK 3.

I wish the built-in terminal in the Linux kernel was better, it is pretty ugly.

Everyone is missing the point here which is that this allows applications to have structured data about progress, so it standardizes progress bars in a manner that is more accessible for all. Previously every CLI application would implement their own visual progress bar in an ununified manner.

Fbcon is basically unmaintained and if anything only getting worse (e.g. losing features) by now. Use kmscon or any terminal you like running inside a lightweight Wayland compositor instead.

It doesn't bother you with notifications if you're looking at the tab where the process has completed. It shows an icon on the tab but not a desktop notification if you're looking at a different tab in terminal. And only shows a full-on desktop notification if the terminal window isn't focused at all.
I think that was meant as a workaround for terminals that don't support this themselves.

Konsole also has different notifications options for when you are looking at a session or when it is not visible.
And for several other events that might be happening.

This is rather funny. A standard adopted a standard in hopes other standards would adopt the standard and other folks are all like, "Using standards with standards? Not in my standard."

Next we'll have full widget support, not only the progressbar widget. Like, instead of, "are you sure? (y/n)" we'll get 2 button-widgets, placed "somewhere", in "some color". Or a pretty dialogbox "You seem to enjoy pretty widgets, do you want systemd to install windows for you? [yes]"
KDE's Konsole also added support for Microsoft's Campbell scheme.

It was trivial to implement. And it's more readable because you can see it without changing tabs.

If you mean the progress bar from the screenshot, then yeah that is absolutely absurd which is why it is a test program.

I know you're being snarky, but there is really value to denoting ranges of the scrollback with additional context using escape sequence. It would allow knowing which commands were run in containers, or as sudo, from a remote SSH server, etc. With that knowledge you absolutely can do more things with pretty widgets.

And seriously, we can parse them so fast that it's a bit like complaining that your ethernet packets have framing headers.
