wtf you talking about? It's not even an API it's a filesystem. Clown doing what he does best I guess.

It's not like there's a FUSE driver for it, or heck even another OS like Windows supporting it. So yes, it breaks userspace.

Okay, it seems, we need fuse driver now for such disks. May some uml or linux kernel library projects help to implement it in userspace?

As i remember, there was some driver for windows xp, supporting it. But it was veeeery unstable

Why? You can convert it to btrfs in place and use it this way.

I do not think, converting entire fs to access few files on archive drives it good idea. It is good idea for actively used drives.
btrfs may require more space for small files (does it have tail compression?) and in-place conversion may fail on full partitions, especially if it's some mail archive.
Also, in-place conversion is unsafe operation and it's better to backup it before conversion. But if you have place and time to backup it, you may just use backup, stored in other fs

              this confirms either:

              1. an extreme lack of critical thinking skills

              OR

              2. a believable shitposter.

Given your other comments I'm actually inclined to think that this is a shitpost account. Respect.

Good, I am glad it is deleted.

Its been years since any discussions about ReiserFS have been technical in nature. Every time this file system comes up discussion forums turn into the Jerry Springer Show.

It should have been deleted sooner.

The only shitpost is the clown who thinks world revolves around him and his usage as usual, but not unexpected from a typical circus resident.

Go tell someone who has his archives on ReiserFS on some forgotten device that it won't break them / his userspace.

Fire up a VM with an older kernel, move data to newer FS, problem solved with little drama provided you don't have bitrot on your old storage device in which case for important data may I suggest stone tablets in future as they have proved stable for millennia since ancient times, if stored correctly.

                      Next.
