I got tired of rolling my own kernels after too many systemd loops where it tried to start X, but fails because of nvidia kernel module issues.

bcachefs is the first thing in more than 10 years to make me actually consider compiling my own kernels again, so it definitely is news worthy.

You're kidding, aren't you? Still better than rustc of course.

Bcachefs is a meme. Joke on its own so far. It may change in the future.

Friends don't let friends use X11 or Nvidia.

I am with you about the nvidia, I have a Radeon Vega 64 these days, but some feels off with wayland for me.

If you don't like a FS thanks to its creator, let me tell you about ReiserFS.

and yet, I still encounter issues with clients (well now ex clients who still ask for help) who run into the no space issue even after deleting stuff. BTRFS will never NOT be a meme and how any distro decides to default to it is utterly absurd to me

Bcachefs already solves massive issues like the storage one mentioned above, it has absurdly good data loss resilience, and has good performance. The only thing meme about it is the mailing list shenanigans, and as a personal anecdote, it's already been more reliable for me then btrfs literally ever has been.
