I have been conditioned for bcachefs drama, at this rate I may start to suffer withdrawal symptoms

Same. It looks like it could very well be a right nifty FS one of these days but right now it has lines in the changelog that invite drama way too often. I like my filesystems dead boring, thanks just the same.

maybe phoronix should stop reporting on every miniscule code change?
I get it, there is some serious fanboism going on - quite puzzling why - so at this point phoronix should either rename itself to 'bcachefs fans only' or tone down.

Besides, could anyone explain WHY every fart in bcachefsland needs to be reported on?

Because you are the product. Page views can influence engagement and revenue, and Phoronix is a business that needs revenue in order to continue.

            A) Bcachefs is the most interesting file system from a news point of view. ZFS will never get upstream, btrfs will never not be a meme, XFS is old and lacks many features etc. Bcachefs is the only legitimately interesting filesystem, and one of the few actually interesting and relevant bits of news for a larger audience

            B) it always gets good engagement

I find it could be a great FS too.

Unfortunately I tied the technology to the author (and the aversion I have for his behaviour).
When it's the moment I'll have to try to become rational again and give it a try

The reason is because Michael decided so.
When you see a news that you don't like or you don't care about, just skip it!

... what? btrfs stopped being a meme years ago. It's the default filesystem on many (if not most) distros and provides the vast majority of the features that bcachefs is intending to support someday... except it supports them now. btrfs also has a much larger developer community around it than bcachefs does. bcachefs is much more "meme status" than btrfs and will be until it's finally "ready for usage" after 30 more years of development.

Is bcachefs the best software ever written (after rustc of course)?
