It will affect enforcement and who gets targeted when they gut the DOJ and put their people in power. They've literally said they're going to come after their enemies. That'll involve patent and copyright law to prevent them from creating competing technology just as much as it'll be them trying to catch their political enemies doing actual crimes.

In all fairness the proposed Department of Government Efficiency will not be a real government department will any type of enforcement capabilities, it will be an advisory organization that in all honesty I think is Trump's way of getting rid of Elon and Vivek.
