Why not throw in a panel with status stuff like how many CPUs that are onlined, how many filesystems + swap's that remains to be mounted, available RAM, network, other servers status (ping) and other status things... Mostly because it's cool, but also because it would not be cool if it wasn't a bit useful as well... Besides having things to look at while your world domination commandcenter NORAD compatible defcon 1 management machine setup starts up makes the boot process more enjoyable as well!!

These boots are made for logging
And that's just what they'll do.
One of these days these boots are gonna log all over you.

Are you ready boots? Start logging.

I hope you put a quota on your logging directory.

Almost all partitions that should be mounted are determined after booting into userspace (usually an initrd/initramfs). So the kernel has no clue how many partitions are to be mounted or not. And not all partitions are always mounted and not all mounts are filesystems (e.g. bind mounts)

I'm pretty sure the GP comment was at least partially tongue-in-cheek.

Nice that it has some colors. Maybe they can add some more color to it to make it even more user-friendly and to make it easier to glance.

No half measure. Implement theming or go home!

How cool! Now a faulty DRM driver will be able to bring down also a booting machine, no need to wait for X11!

                  I'm all of a dither!

Y’know, the best protection against a faulty driver is to never turn the computer on.

Also, big surprise, it’s 2024 and fbcon already works on top of DRM.
