A third of a century. And it *still* isn't ready. I really need to get
    my sh*t together..

    Linus
That applies for most of us.

Hooray.. 6.11-rc5 has finally fixed stalling on boot with the following error message on a custom kernel build:

      Code:
      [drm:amdgpu_device_init] *ERROR* early_init of IP block <gfx_v10_0> failed -22
amdgpu 000:0f:00.0: amdgpu: Fatal error during GPU init
Not sure how that slipped through rc1-rc4, but glad it's fixed.

edit: Found the bug report and commit that fixed it in case anyone is interested:

      Bug: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/3551
      Commit: https://lore.kernel.org/amd-gfx/CADn...l.gmail.com/T/

Well, the guy needs to delegate this job then. If he is unable to work with Linus then he needs to find somebody that can work between him and Linus.

This is too important to let personal issues get in the way. Btrfs is NOT SAFE! You WILL lose data on it! Bcachefs needs to be upstream.

EDIT: The fact that people are talking about removing Bcachefs is seriously fucked up! It's Btrfs that needs to be removed! I don't think anyone can prove any instance of data corruption on bcachefs, but literally -everyone- can prove data corruption on btrfs!

You get mad about fixes getting submitted for one filesystem but then totally ignore the other filesystem that doesn't even come anywhere close to actually working!!

EDIT: If you guys are happy with the process that btrfs uses to develop upstream then maybe, just maybe, that is a major indication that its the process that is broken... Because btrfs DOESN'T work!!!

You guys using btrfs all have silent corruption and read errors all over the place , but you're all too fucking stupid to realize it!!

              EDIT: here's some bait
              for you, stupid motherfucker

                Will you pay for that?

Freeloaders discuss how people should work. Amazing!

Wtf are you talking about? Listen to what he has said. Bcachefs already has funding, it is deployed commercially. He already has a process!! The problem here isn't a lack of process, it's a disagreement about process!!ED

EDIT: Did you even fucking read it! Do you even know what the fuck you're talking about!?

I apologize for talking to you guys like that. I still stand by my points, but just that I regret speaking to you in the manner I did.

EDIT: I guess I have to be honest with myself and with you guys, because I post here and you guys can see it too, that I'm seriously unhappy with a lot of different aspects of linux's current state. It seems like Linux is never going to have a good filesystem or a good desktop compositor or a good virtual machine host.

I'm ready to rage quit and my mental health is obviously declining.... I'm sorry... I think this is my last post for a while, I need to detach and find other things more worthwhile to do.
