Phoronix: Zstd Compressed Firmware Will Finally Be Supported With Linux 5.19

For two years there has been interest and unmerged patches for allowing Linux's plethora of firmware blobs to be Zstd-compressed for helping to save disk space. Finally it looks like for Linux 5.19 that optional Zstd firmware compression support will be merged...

Nice, so we'll soon have distros shipping firmware as a zstd archive comprising zstd compressed firmware blobs? zstd in zstd

They should upgrade Zstd to the latest version first!
Last time they upgraded it to the fake 1.4.10 and let an upgrade method saying that it would be easier in the future to upgrade it, and even though the latest version (1.5.2) it was released in January, the kernel code still has not been upgraded to it.
And now besides the Zstd compression for BTRFS, this compression algorithm will be used for the firmwares too.
I wonder what are they waiting for to upgrade it and keep it in sync with the latest upstream verion.

Did they already include the significant speedups from the latest official versions?

Why? I don't see the connection, this shouldn't be delaying anything. They should do just do both.
