Phoronix: The 15 Most Interesting Linux 5.15 Kernel Features From NTFS3 To KSMBD & DAMON

Back in September at the end of the Linux 5.15 merge window was our Linux 5.15 feature overview but given the time since then and that the Linux 5.15 stable kernel will likely be released this evening, here is a recap of the most interesting changes in this new kernel version...

Since this is probably the next LTS kernel, having the new NTFS driver in it is very nice!

With the samba server, will this integrate with existing samba software or will it be configured independently?

Isn't 5.16 going to be LTS?

Usually the LTS is the last release of the year.

From the 5.16 article in phoronix:

          > Linux 5.16 stable should debut right around the end of the year / early next year depending upon how everything plays out.

So it might be 5.15 or 5.16, let's see what kernel maintainers decide

Really hope LTS is going to be 5.16 because it has many exciting features like futex2. I think Canonical will choose the LTS kernel again for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, like it did with 20.04 LTS.

                You will need the ksmbd-tools:

What I'll need to use the newest NTFS3 driver? What will be the changes in fstab? Just substitute ntfs3g with NTFS3?
