Oh boy here we go... Microsoft and systemd in the same sentence. I hope you ran some benchmarks on your forum Michael because this is the ultimate stress test for sure...

Then a systemd daemon will be needed to manage the counter, and it will need block device UUID because what good is a counter when you can't go from counter value back to device, and it won't keep in sync when you swap devices unless you issue an obscure maintenance command, and it will try to be smarter than you, and it's config will be stored binary as are it's log files. MS will just ignore the whole thing because the purpose was just to throw a wrench into the kernel by hooking systemd deeper into the kernel internals.
