It might be fun to work on Reiser4 or 5. Like Harry Potter. "FS that must not be named, 4 or 5."

At that point, they should rename it to ShishkinFS.
We're already two generation later (Reiser4, and Reiser5), than ReiserFS and most of the work isn't performed by Hans anymore.

"For the lulz" used to be an important drive in the opensource world. If Edward has time and interest, why not?
Or are you suggesting that a Finnish student shouldn't be pointlessly wasting time on some hobby kernel project when all the interest is in big commercial Unices?

Hans Reiser, the original author of ReiserFS, killed his wife. Hence do some people like to joke about it. ... Just do not forget that she was a person, too, and will be missed by her family. It is not really joke material when you think about it.

While he is of course free to do whatever he wishes, there is nothing outstanding in Reiser5 with certainly near zero interested. Working on any other filesystem be that btrfs, xfs, f2fs or even zfs would be more productive and probably even be more interesting ;-)

Please note that I am aware this is a joke, but come on, every Reiser thread always ends up like this.

Not much work, alright then. But a growing number of open bugs is not exactly a good point. If it was, then Qt would have no interest in Qt and GTK no interest in GTK, just to name a few examples.

People keep saying that, but I have yet to see recent (let's say not more than a year old) benchmarks of Reiser 4 and esp. 5 compared to others.
