The Linux Vendor Firmware Service (LVFS) with Fwupd has been serving on average around 40k~50k firmware updates per daay to Linux users relying on this cross-vendor, open-source firmware distribution service with FWUPD for applying firmware updates under Linux. But yesterday its usage just skyrocketed with more than 100,000 firmware updates in a single day... That's great for adoption but the motivation for the mass firmware updates may be something rough on the horizon...

A copy of everything gets vetted through a network of Chinese AI servers before you actually use it. It's for your own good.

That wasn't me. I just have a Logitech Unifying Receiver being able to get updates and didn't updates in a while. My laptop (Dell Inspiron 5590) supports firmware updates over UEFI, but just newer models have the firmware available for download e install.

Could be some really old hardware that a company doesn't care about anymore and don't feel like maintaining.

Sounds like a Chromebook issue. Other than servers and Android devices, I cannot thinks of a 100K devices that would collectively trigger simultaneously.
