And not Greg either, it was the various subsystem maintainers. Except for the deliberately bad patches, those where rejected by everyone.

Is using -Os still more effective (for execution speed) then -O3? I haven't been into the compiling for years

Where is this train of thought going? That it was not Trump either? That it was not <insert-your-idolised-leadership-here> but all the workers, voters or soldiers doing it? ... Torvalds has got the responsibility over the Linux project and he is the one bickering about a lack of care. The end. There is no need to derail this and to turn this into a brown-nosing competition for fear of your idols being called out for the dumb shit they talk. Everybody talks shit and Torvalds is no exception.

"Very few projects use -O3" - literally all CMake projects(Meson as well) compile with -O3 in Release mode.
-O3 is an issue if you have code that hits undefined behavior.

Torvalds doesn't review code, and he doesn't claim to do so. By the time it reaches him, it's already been reviewed by others, and signed off by them. Or else they failed to review like they were supposed to and signed off anyway.

It would literally be impossible for a single person to review all the code that goes into the kernel. He just manages merging it all together.

And up until a few weeks ago, Linus was literally accepting any garbage patches from University of Minnesota delinquents for no reason whatsoever and without subjecting them to even the most cursory review.

So, who cares about being "careful" more, I wonder?
Being careful is always a group effort. If you try and appoint specific persons to take care of it you've already lost - the best thing any review can hope to do is to reduce the probablility of problems getting through.

sdack, you’re speaking about the creator of Linux and git. A little respect for everything he’s done for us and continues doing, please

Yeah, you are. And you are the one making the dumb comment. Why would anyone care if you are or are not a Torvalds defender, hmm? You think when you say this about yourself then it would make it true. It does not and it makes you look silly for thinking it did.

perpetually high No, I could not careless about a person as toxic as Torvalds. He does not deserve my respect.

But your comments here are equally dumb. This had jack shit to do with Torvalds, and trying to bring him into it makes you look silly.
Ah, you sound like an angry millenial? Linus is from times when carebears used diapers and sucked their momma's titties.
