Interesting I have thought that this workers thread scaling was implemented already very early if one considers the nature of zfs as server filesystem it really surprises me.

Back when ZFS s first created, multiple CPUs were not very common, especially not more than 2 or 4. It is a little surprising it hadn't been implemented yet, though.

In what configuration? Neither XFS nor ext4 do what ZFS does without building an entire storage stack with, for example, LVM/md, dm-integrity, LUKS2.
