All Sony consoles run modified FreeBSD, same way Android phones run modified Linux. Just like you cannot run Android software on stock Linux, you cannot play Playstation games on stock FreeBSD, but it's not really relevant to this discussion: we're talking about market share.

It seems you can't backup your claims. Wake me up when freebsd catches up in graphic stack and they achieve this on their own. Currently they're copying everything from Linux. They only have one modern file system 'stolen' from solaris (I know you were favoring it over Linux, but it's dead, what a pity :>), epoch introduced dozens of years after Linux' RCU etc. I also think it's time to make bsd desktop environment, because it's too much leeching on Linux already.

Don't get me wrong, but... do you ever say anything that cannot be disproven by 30 seconds of googling?
Too bad you can only dream about running Sony's games on your crippled FreeBSD. It's probably because Sony took few parts from *bsd and doesn't give a shit about such niche OS. I didn't even need a 30 seconds to realize such obvious thing.

That's a curious thing to say, given that Android (Linux derivative) is the biggest gaming platform on the planet with a global market share of 40%, while for FreeBSD it's exactly 0% (https://gs.statcounter.com/os-market-share/).

Generally speaking, apart from "deep embedded", WiFi, and some exotic stuff that never took off, the hardware support in FreeBSD and Linux is pretty similar.

I don't think so. Their license 'serves' exactly this purpose.
