Are you REALLY so sure that Poettering & Co are never going to start with gradually replacing Linux kernel itself with "something better" as they would define it?

of course, since i'm not an imbecile. if you can do some kernel work in userspace better than in kernel, it's a good thing to do it in userspace rather than in kernel. like every user process replaces some imaginary kernel code. but you can't replace all of kernel

With the feature creep displayed, it's a rather question of time.

Poeterring & Co will feel that they are not especially satisfied with how Linux kernel project does things and start building systemd framework around kernel with a goal to gradually remove it alltogether. They can't replace it all in one go because of losing all that hardware support. But they CAN do it in a way systemd init component replaced SysV - as a drop in replacement retaining backwards compatibility.

windows is an awful gaming platform. the only good thing about windows is amount of games targeting it. but when game supports both systems, experience on linux will be better

Android is distinct OS of its own, not Linux. Yeah, runs Linux kernel but does not decide things. It also runs code from BSD's (C library for example). So, which is it? Or which should be more important?
Both kernel and C lib are just vital components of an distinct OS. One being something particular doesn't make OS something else, whatever it's diehard fans would like to think. it certainly isn't anything like GNU/Linux you like to lump under common denominator "Linux".
