If you looked at the PDF you'd know that they've contracted that work out to Superman. If people are too locked down he'll just come by and manually get their data. He's faster than a speeding bullet so he'll be in and out before they even know it.

A very nice workaround for the otherwise very serious performance issue. Obviously it's not gonna eliminate it though.

I hate Google just as much as you do, but even evil tyrants can make some nice contributions every once in a while.
Google doesn't even need Linux, they could just go with the BSDs with their less restrictive license and hide away all their work like Apple does, but they fully adopted Linux and contribute changes to it anyway.
