I'm a .2 or .3 man myself. Never rc to .1 unless there is something badass AMDGPU coming.

That said, being a ZoL user has changed that up so nowadays I limit myself to what kernels they support and don't always stay 10ft back from the edge.

Funny how "Linux is the throatiest, and 1000 eyes reviewed" became: "never rc to .1", ...? While I would not based my stuff on out-of-tree stuff either.

I've been hit by enough random crap in the past that I just like to play it safe. Like, I always keep multiple working kernels installed; guaranteed to have the current stable and LTS. That way if something sneaks its way into the current stable kernel I can reboot into the LTS kernel and go on like nothing happened; at worst losing 1 or 2 FPS due to using an older graphics driver.

IMHO, it seems like not enough people run RC kernels these days so the first couple of point releases are like public betas where the remaining kinks get worked out and somewhere around the 2nd or 3rd point release is where they start be more reliable for everyone.

On the side, my personal favourite is the support of ZSTD compression of the kernel and initramdisk.
