    and i would normally follow that logic, but if you wanted a mid-range consumer board with a 2.5G NIC right now your choice has been one of two options:
    1. Realtek 8125 - for which i haven't spotted any real complaints.
    2. Intel thing that is broken, and can only work reliably by down-grading perf to 1G speeds.
